Back on the flats, there are some interesting bits of history along the way. The sign says that these boats were the main form of navigation on the lake until as late as 1955. Logs were split in two to make them, hence the name "log boats." This one could carry around 13 tons.


Kannoura also has a shrine with the distinctive torii gate. Unlike the large, famous ones, this quiet local shrine is unpainted and therefore somehow more impressive.
