The Noto Peninsula ("Noto Hanto")
is Japan's largest - a long arm extended into the Japan Sea coast between
Kanazawa and Toyama. This is Ishikawa Prefecture, one of Japan's most rural,
and that guarantees you a wealth of great seascapes and quiet farmland interiors.
The enormous length of the coast means that it will take you a full three
days to get around it -- and you'd better make that four days if you want
to explore every nook and cranny of the coastline.
You can do this route in either of two very different ways: solo or with
a small group of cyclists as usual, or with hundreds if not thousands of
your closest friends as part of the annual Tour de Noto in September. Either
way, it's one of the better ways to experience the beauty that Japan's coastline
has to offer. |
