As you get closer to Takasu, the scenery starts to have the wild, rocky feel that reaches its apex at Tojimbo.


Before I came to Japan, I remember looking at Japanese (and Chinese) brush paintings and marveling at the stylized pine trees. It wasn't until I traveled here the first time that I realized that the painters were simply recording what they actually saw. Viewed with the distinctive rocks of this coastline, the trees are even more impressive. By the way, this particular pile of rocks is MUCH larger than it looks.
