From Ikeda, you simply follow the river down to one of the island's main attractions, Oboke and Koboke, two river gorge areas that offer spectacular rugged cliffs and rushing waters. Although the cars that also rush past on the highway detract a bit from the scenic beauty, there is a separate pedestrian-and-bicycle path, so you can take your time and really enjoy the view.

River rafting is a big tourist attraction at Oboke-Koboke. As I recall, there were also regular sightseeing boats and some kayaks as well. Not having packed a raft, I sighed and pedaled on.
